Educator Training: Emotional Regulation & Behavior Support

From Survival to Safety™

Brain-Based Regulation & Co-Regulation for Early Childhood Educators

This training is designed to support educators in understanding behavior through a brain-based lens and responding to children in a way that builds safety, connection, and long-term regulation skills.

When children become overwhelmed, they are not choosing behavior, they are responding from a state of protection. This training helps educators recognize these moments and respond with tools that support regulation before redirection.

Children's Storytime Activity

What This Training Supports

Educators will gain a deeper understanding of:

• How the brain responds to stress and perceived threat
• Why children lose access to listening, reasoning, and problem-solving when dysregulated
• The role of co-regulation in developing self-regulation
• How adult nervous systems influence classroom behavior
• How to support children in real-time using developmentally appropriate strategies

This approach helps shift classrooms from reacting to behavior to understanding and responding with intention.
